This is a review of Hotel 1000, located in Seattle, Washington, USA. The hotel is part of Hilton’s luxury LXR Hotels & Resorts brand.

Booking

We had an overnight stop in Seattle ahead of an international flight and decided to book a stay at Hotel 1000, a luxury hotel in downtown Seattle that’s part of Hilton’s LXR Hotels & Resorts collection. This turned out to be a fantastic value—especially when booked through the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) program. The total cost of the room was $322CDN ($223USD), totalling $380CDN ($263USD) once taxes and fees are included.

The FHR program provides excellent value with the perks you receive through the program.  The benefits provided at Hotel 1000 are similar to those offered for other FHR bookings.  An FHR booking at Hotel 1000 offers:

·         Early check-in when available;

·         One level room upgrade when available;

·         $100USD hotel credit (for lounge, on-site restaurant or room service);

·         Free breakfast for two at the restaurant (maximum value $60USD);

·         A guaranteed 4pm check-out.

Since I have Hilton Gold status—a benefit of the Amex Platinum card—I received an additional $50 USD property credit.

In total, we received $150 USD ($217 CAD) in property credits and $60 USD ($87 CAD) in breakfast value, representing a total value of $304CDN ($210USD), making it an outstanding value. The FHR rate also qualifies for Hilton Honors points and elite nights, which isn’t always the case with third-party bookings. The net cost of a room at this luxury hotel, after taking into account all credits, came out to $76CDN ($53USD).

Location

Hotel 1000 is a modern, upscale boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Seattle. It is part of Hilton's high end luxury brand, LXR Hotels and Resorts.

If you are looking for a hotel that is near the main downtown Seattle sites, Hotel 1000 checks that box.  Hotel 1000 is located at 1000 First Avenue (hence the name), right in the heart of downtown Seattle - a prime spot that puts you within easy walking distance of many of the city's most iconic attractions such as Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Great Wheel and the many shops and restaurants dotting the waterfront.

Check-In

I landed at Sea-Tac airport in the afternoon and took a cab into the city, a 25 minute ride. I arrived at Hotel 1000 shortly before 3:30pm.

Entering the hotel, the décor is modern and stylish, with the cozy RoseBay lounge off to the right and the on-site restaurant, All Water Seafood & Oyster Bar to the left. Reception was straight ahead and to the right.

Hotel 1000 Reception

The hotel's reception area reflects modern design with Pacific Northwest elements (think modern meets nature). The polished concrete floor with the inlaid hardwood, along with the pendant lights hanging from the ceiling at varying heights, created an upscale and welcoming vibe, without being too flashy.

At check-in the staff was friendly and welcoming.  I had booked a King Bed Deluxe room, which was the lowest level room at the hotel. I was advised that they had a room upgrade available, as part of our FHR benefit, to a King Deluxe room with a water view, but that it would be another 30 minutes or so before the room would be ready and that the hotel would call us as soon as the room was ready.  I was more than happy to wait for the upgraded room and so we stored our luggage with the hotel and headed off to explore the Seattle waterfront on what was an unusually sunny January day.

As noted above, the Seattle waterfront and shops as well as Pike Place Market are an easy walk from the hotel. We also visited the first Starbucks store of the iconic chain.

At around 4pm, we received a call from the hotel advising us that the room upgrade they had planned for us was not available as the room had to be removed from inventory because of a maintenance issue.  As a result, we were informed that we had been further upgraded to the King Bed 1 Bedroom Executive Suite (a room that retailed for approx. $750CDN that night).   It was a generous upgrade from our originally booked King Bed Deluxe Room, and a great example of the FHR program paying off.

Room

After exploring Seattle for a couple of hours, we headed back to the hotel to check out our room.

Much like the common areas in the hotel, the room was modern, spacious and well appointed. Entering the room, there was a hallway to the right and to the left, with the bathroom being immediately in front.  The hallway had alcoves with art and lights in each alcove to showcase it.

Turning down the hallway to the right, it opened into a large room with a large dining table, more artwork on the walls, a large sectional and chair and a big screen tv.  This is also where you will find the mini-bar and coffee maker. There was a large window, the only natural light in the room, however, the view looked onto another adjacent building which was very close to the hotel such that there really was very little natural light for our 6th floor room. The view was certainly one of the drawbacks to the room.

There was ample space in this area with lots of seating.

In this room is where you will find the minibar and coffee maker.

Heading back down the hallway, the bathroom was on the right.  It was also a good size with with a large freestanding tub being the centrepiece of the room which sat in front of a glass wall that looked into the bedroom.

Given the size of the room, it could have been designed with a double sink but, unfortunately, had only a single sink.  There was also a shower with a regular shower head and a rainfall shower head.  There was a private water closet with the toilet and frosted glass, which is a nice touch considering the large glass wall from the bathroom looking into the bedroom.  It would not be an attractive feature if the toilet was also on display.  I quite liked the glass wall feature but, certainly, if you are staying in the room with someone who is not your significant other, it could be a bit awkward, though that problem could be solved fairly quickly with the remote control in the bathroom that allows a motorized blind to be lowered to cover the glass window.

Heading into the hallway once again leads to the separate bedroom, another large room, with a king size bed.

The room had a large screen TV, a desk and a dressing area with a full length mirror (with lighting) and wardrobe. In the wardrove were two sets of slippers and two robes.  More and more I find that hotels are only including one robe, so I was pleased to see Hotel 1000 hotel provided two robes.

The side tables beside the bed also featured plugs and USB chargers in a helpful location.  Given the number of times I am in hotel rooms having to unplug lamps or clocks or finding no plugs near the bed, I always appreciate when there are easily accessible plugs and USB charges right next to the bed.

Finally, in the bedroom there was a complimentary container of dried apple chips, nuts and a fresh apple.  A nice touch.

Amenities

The Hotel 1000 has an on-site restaurant, lounge, fitness centre, spa, and a Topgolf Swing Suite (a bookable hospitality suite with a full golf simulator with virtual games, big screen TVs and seating area).

Fitness Centre

The fitness centre is open 24 hours a day. It's adequate, but not huge. It is equipped with four treadmills, a couple of staionary bikes (including a Peleton which didn't appear to be in working order) and several ellipticals. There was a cable machine, bench and some barbells, but the actual area for strength training was quite small and only accomodated one person. There were some nice touches such as recyclable earbuds, and cold refrigerated towels, which were refreshing after a hard work out, as well as fresh fruit. During my morning visit to the fitness centre, it was not busy, which is why I found its size adquate.

Rosebay Lounge

Hotel 1000 has a cozy lounge adjacent to the lobby called Rosebay. The lounge had a laid back vibe with soft lighting, plush seating and a roaring fire encased in a circular glass tube which added to the ambience.  The décor has a northwest feel, making you feel right at home in Seattle. The lounge was not busy and we managed to grab a chair right by the fire and enjoyed a couple of hand crafted cocktails before dinner. The hotel credits were used to cover the drinks.

Restaurant - All Water Seafood & Oyster Bar

The on-site restaurant, called All Water Seafood & Oyster bar, is an upscale but casual eatery which highlights local, Pacific Northwest ingredients.

We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant, ordering a couple of appetizers, including some very tasty crab cakes. For mains, we ordered seafod linguine and prawn rissoto. The food was well-prepared, fresh and satisfying. The service was friendly and efficient. We were able to use our room credits toward the cost of the meal.

The All Water Seafood & Oyster Bar also serves breakfast in the morning and is where we were able to use our room credits for breakfast. The $60USD credit easily covered our breakfast order of avocado toast, an omelette and a cappucino. Everything was fresh and well-prepared, and the service matched our experience from the night before.

Check-Out

With a guaranteed 4:00 PM late check-out from the FHR perks, we had plenty of time to enjoy the morning, work out and relax before heading back to the airport for our evening flight. All charges and credits were properly applied at check-out, and the process was quick and professional.

Bottom Line

Hotel 1000 is a stylish and comfortable luxury hotel in the heart of Seattle. The Amex FHR program elevated this one-night stay into a high-end experience at a fraction of the cost thanks to early check-in, room upgrades, valuable credits, and guaranteed late check-out. The suite upgrade, excellent dining, and friendly service made this a memorable stopover, and the location can't be beat. I will not hesitate to book a stay at Hotel 1000 my next trip to Seattle.
